CareerBuilder—the global company specializing in helping employers find, hire and onboard great talent—has a new CEO, Irina Novoselsky. At just 33 years old, and the company’s first female CEO, Novoselsky brings a strong background as a tech innovator and out-of-the-box thinker to an industry undergoing rapid change.

CareerBuilder and SilkRoad recently conducted a joint survey of job seekers’ expectations. Low unemployment and high demand for top talent are creating a recruiting environment where candidates are increasingly in the driver’s seat.

“The survey results confirm a significant shift of power from employers to candidates—largely caused by sustained low unemployment and widening skills gaps that are making it more difficult for employers to find and keep the talent they need,” Novoselsky summarizes. “Nearly one-half of employers said it’s taking them longer to fill jobs today than in any other period in the post-industrial era.”

As a result, companies and the recruiting industry must learn to customize the entire candidate experience—a major goal of CareerBuilder’s new apps and its embrace of mobile technology.
